Mid-Atlantic Spring Specialty Shows
March 13-14, 2010
Dude Ranch Pet Resort, Glen Allen, VA
The MALC is pleased to announce our Regional Spring Specialty Shows on March 13-14, 2010. These Specialties mark the 38th and 39th shows that the MALC has organized and superintended! Whether you are showing a Leo, just coming to socialize with your Leo, or want to learn more about this wonderful breed, you will be most welcome!
This is our last Regional Specialty before the Leonberger breed becomes recognized by the AKC. We are extremely honored to have Ms. Mary Decher as a judge for our Saturday show. Mary has been an integral part of the Leonberger Club of America since its inception, and is currently on its Board of Directors. The MALC is also delighted to have Brenda Santiago as our Sunday judge. Brenda is an AKC judge and was a judge for our October 2006 Specialty.
The show venue is the Dude Ranch Pet Resort in Glen Allen, VA. This is a wonderful and spacious indoor facility. The show hotel is the Quality Inn in Ashland, just 11 miles from the show site. Lunch will be available on a pre-ordered basis at the show site on Saturday only. (There are no other convenient restaurants close to the show site.) No MALC show would be complete without a raffle, so any donation of raffle items will be appreciated. We usually have a group dinner after Saturday's show near the hotel site. The group dinner location will be announced at the show. Details regarding the shows, including the lunch order and entry forms can be found by downloading the Show Premium below.
Exciting news! There will be a Leonberger Educational Seminar for AKC judges following the MALC Saturday afternoon show. All are welcome to learn. The seminar will be based on the new AKC approved breed standard. The presenters are Mary Decher, Agi Hejja, and Alida Greendyk. For more information on this seminar, contact Agi Hejja at (804) 556-6937 or email AHejja@mac.com. We are also planning a special grooming clinic and perhaps even a first aid course after the show on Saturday!
There will be a general MALC membership meeting after the Saturday afternoon show as well. MALC members should be there to discuss AKC club accreditation. Please go to the News page to read Harry Austin's report to the membership on this issue.
All entries must be received by February 27th, and no changes or refunds will be made after that date. No exceptions. There are no day-of-show entries. Please respect our judges by being on time to the ring.
The MALC is looking forward to seeing everyone in Virginia in March!
